Waternomics Workshop for the Engineers Week

Engineers Ireland www.engineersireland.ie the professional body for Engineers in Ireland set aside one week every year www.engineersweek.ie to celebrate the engineering profession, to grow awareness of engineers in the community, and to showcase engineering as an exciting and diverse career option for students.

This year Waternomics is getting involved with an exciting workshop event for secondary school pupils that will take place in the Engineering Building at NUI Galway. The event focuses on water, its uses, its conservation and the role of technology in increasing our awareness of how we use it.

Pupils will attend a water conservation workshop where they will construct a drinking water cycle and consider ways to reduce the demand for mains water. This part of the workshop will take place in a state-of-the-art Hydraulics Laboratory at the NUI Galway Engineering Building where attendees will also see the power of water demonstrated. Pupils will also be introduced to the idea of creating software apps that can be installed on the new ‘Waternomics’ software platform being developed at NUIG.
