Pint Of Science is an event occurring at the same time in different countries where researchers bring their ideas to pubs to present their latest discoveries in a simple and informal way in order to make science closer to general audience.
Galway hosted its first edition this year on May 18th – 20th 2015. On May 19th, the discussion was on Technology and Planet Earth under the topic SMART Future. Researchers where invited to present what SMART means, how does it affect our life, how SMART can technology be, etc.
Wassim Derguech was invited to talk about Waternomics and ICT4Water under the vision of SMART Water. The presentation was funny, simple, nice and created a big discussion around water saving opportunities at multiple levels (domestic, corporate and municipal).
The main questions were about whether or not the technologies brought by Waternomics and ICT4Water are going to be effective and long lasting, how much a household can afford paying for having installations at home, we should target educational institutions to teach children how to save water etc.
